GEORGIA LIONS CAMP FOR THE BLIND

It is the mission of the Georgia Lions’ Camp for the Blind, Inc. to provide personal growth experiences of children, teens, and adults with visual impairments through the use of recreation, education, socialization and rehabilitation in an outdoor setting.

                           GEORGIA LIGHTHOUSE

The Georgia Lighthouse Foundation is a service project of the Lions of Georgia, Multiple District18. Founded in 1949, the Lighthouse provides Vision and Hearing services for legal Georgia residents who have no other place to turn for help.

 

 
LEADER DOGS FOR THE BLIND
 

Leader Dogs for the Blind is dedicated to helping the visually impaired enhance their quality of life by providing the means for safe and independent travel.

 

    WHITE CANE

White Cane Safety Day is celebrated in the United States on October 15. On this day, Lions clubs publicize the needs of the blind and visually impaired. The familiar White Cane with a red band at the bottom is used by blind and visually impaired persons in many countries. This simple device was invented in 1930 by Lion George A. Bonham of the Peoria, Illinois, USA, Lions Club. 

 

 

LIONS CLUBS INTERNATIONAL FOUNDATION

Lions Clubs International Foundation, the grant-making arm of Lions Clubs International, brings help, hope and healing to the world.

LCIF enables Lions to tackle global problems such as blindness and hearing loss and respond to major catastrophes such as earthquakes and floods.

 

 

 

 

 

Georgia Unit for the Blind & Dyslexic 

The Georgia Unit of Recording for the Blind & Dyslexic has been present in Athens since 1953.

The Georgia Unit serves approximately 3,000 Georgians.

 

 

AT THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS, THE COVINGTON LIONS CLUB COLLECTS USED GLASSES, OLD HEARING AIDS AND CELL PHONES. THESE ITEMS ARE REFURBISHED AND DONATED TO PEOPLE THAT CAN USE THEM.
